Dr. PELEBE Edéya Orobiyi Rodrigue is a Researcher at the World Bank Africa Centre of

Excellence in Coastal Resilience, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and member of the

Research Laboratory in Aquaculture and Aquatic Ecotoxicology, University of Parakou,

Benin. He also works as Part-Time Lecturer at the Department of Sciences and Techniques of

Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture and at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Agricultural

Sciences (CePeSA), Faculty of Agronomy-University of Parakou, Benin. He holds a Dual

Degree, PhD in Fisheries and Aquaculture (University of Parakou-Benin) and in

Hydrobiology (Félix HOUPHOUET BOIGNY University-Côte d’Ivoire).  Dr.

PELEBE undertakes applied research to investigate on real and unaddressed problems

identified in fisheries sector and within fishing communities in order to provide science-based

solutions or recommendations to decision-makers. His current research interests are Fisheries

Science, Aquatic Ecosystems Management and Biodiversity Conservation, Aquatic

Ecotoxicology, Quality of Fishery Products and Human Health Risks, and Molecular

Identification and Population Genetics of Fishes. He has been Principal Investigator or

Associate Researcher/Consultant for several projects and consultancies (funded by GTI,

AGNES, IFS, WAEMU, France Embassy in Benin, Rufford Foundation, AAU-World Bank,

FAO, Cefas-UK, Joint SDG Fund, and AU-IBAR) at both national and regional levels.

Currently, Dr. PELEBE co-authored more than 40 publications (articles and technical

documents) in peer-reviewed journals. He has given more than 35 scientific communications

at both national and international events. He provides technical and scientific assistance to

several CSOs and NGOs in Africa. He has a strong commitment to use science as a powerful

tool to contribute to the well-being of populations and the preservation of aquatic resources

on the Africa continent.
